Waves and well-being
According to the community, its name is built on “wellen,” a word for waves in German and for wellness in Dutch4. Feeling good where you live is the whole point of a great lanai: shade, a breeze, something beautiful overhead and nowhere you would rather be.

Art out in the open
In 2023, big murals went up downtown with herons, flowers, butterflies and scenes from the lake6. Bold color in public places is a good reminder that home can be bold too. A rich stained ceiling is basically art you sit under.
Outdoors by design
At the heart of downtown sits a lake of roughly 80 acres4, ringed by a walking loop, the Grand Lake Trail, that measures 2.8 miles5. A walk around the water, then home to the lanai for a cold drink in the shade, is a pretty good day.
